INTERPRETING SERVICE

Liaison Interpreting

  • Done by one interpreter.
  • Used to communicate two speakers or small groups.
  • Interpreting equipment is not necessary.
  • Recommended for: audits, assessments, interviews, medical consults, small business meetings, site visits, others.

Consecutive Interpreting

  • The interpreter and the speaker take turns to intervene.
  • The interpreter takes notes while the speaker expresses the ideas and, after a pause, the interpreter gives the message.
  • Used to facilitate the communication in a group with a larger number of people.
  • Interpreting equipment is not necessary. However, a microphone may be used sometimes.
  • Recommended for: hearings, press conferences, speeches, board meetings, others.

Simultaneous Interpreting

  • The lecturer speaks and the interpreter gives the message simultaneously with a minimum lag.
  • Mostly used in events with long durations and/or when there is a large number of attendees.
  • Interpreting equipment is necessary (portable system radios or booths) because it saves time and does not extend the event’s duration.
  • The type of interpreting equipment and the number or interpreters will be determined after the duration of the event and the number of attendees.
  • Recommended for: meetings, trainings, congresses, conferences, courses, symposiums, workshops, others.
